Careful What You Wish For

Luna under the lounge chair

The pugs wanted some sun and they got more than they could handle this weekend.  The rain stopped early Friday morning and the sun came back with a vengeance.  It was extremely hot this weekend!

The pugs jumped on the opportunity to bask in the sun the moment it peaked out from behind a cloud on Friday, but after about 15 minutes the boys were ready come back inside and enjoy some A.C. and Luna crawled under the lounge chair hoping to cool off in the shade!

Ain’t No Sunshine

There has been very little sunshine the last few days here on the east coast of FL.  Without sunbeams to bask in, the pugs have been a little down in the dumps.

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

Yesterday, Benjamin had to bury himself in the couch because he couldn’t stand the thought of having to make another pee pee in the rain!

Benjamin

And Henry & Luna have turned to each for support to get through these gloomy days.

Henry & Luna

Here’s hoping for some sunshine for Benny, Henry & Luna who are missing it dearly.

2008 Calendar Contest is Underway

2008 Pug Calendar Contest

It’s that time of the year again!  Time to gather up all your pictures and submit them to the Owned by Pugs’ Calendar Contest.  This is our third year holding the contest and we could not be more excited to get things rolling.  You can get the complete contest details here and if you have any questions please let me know.

When the calendars go on sale, a portion of the proceeds from each calendar sale will be donated to Compassionate Pug Rescue.  CPR holds a very special spot in our heart because they brought little Luna into our lives.  In the meantime, I am asking all those who enter the calendar contest to consider donating $5 to CPR.  The donation is not mandatory and the contest is free to enter, but I would really like to be able to raise some funds for CPR before the calendars go on sale.  CPR has taken in many pugs this year with very serious eye injuries and we all know how quick veterinarian bills add up.

I look forward to seeing everyone’s entries and I hope you can help me spread the word about the Calendar Contest.  Please let all your pug loving friends know about the contest, too!  Hopefully, we can make this the biggest and best calendar yet!

I Feel Pretty

Benjamin looking at himself in the mirror

Benny is always perched atop the back of the sofa and from time to time I catch him checking himself out in the mirror that hangs on the wall behind the sofa.  The boy knows he’s cute and I guess every once and again he likes to make sure his fur is not must and that he wrinkles look just right.  In the picture, above, is Benny’s reflection and is what he sees as he gazes at himself in the mirror.

Caption This #18

Henry

Here we have Henry taking a seat at an outdoor amphitheater near our house.  He pretty much picked out the best seat and claimed it for himself.  Can’t wait to read your captions in the comments!

Sittin’ Pretty

Luna sittin' pretty

This weekend was full of pampering for the pugs.  Although, we clearly did not see eye to eye.  The pampering began on Saturday evening with toenail clipping and I don’t think any of the pugs would classify this as pampering.  I think they would liken it to torture with a few Cheerios thrown in here and there.  On Sunday,  everyone got a good brushing which they thoroughly enjoyed.  Then, everyone got a bath.  Henry enjoyed his bath and Luna would have enjoyed her bath had she not had to get wet.  And Benjamin, well he was a nervous wreck.  Not only does he not care for getting wet, but he is very antsy during his bath.  It is almost like he can’t bear to see his dirt being washed away and that he is afraid that he is going to get sucked down the drain with it.

So, if you were to talk to the pugs, they would say that the only good thing of the weekend was being brushed.  Well, that and the pizza crust they got on Sunday night!

Luna’s Close Up (Part 3)

Picture of Luna's good eye taken by the ophthalmologist on our latest visit

As we’ve been reporting, Luna’s eyes have been through a lot.  This is the most recent photo of Luna’s “good eye.”  Her right eye.  As you can see, the scar tissue is completely healed and there is no evidence of a tumor or anything else.  (Well, there is a little of her “eye muck” lingering, but hey, that’s not too bad!)  We finally got a terrific report from the eye specialist late last week and she is to stay on the same medicine schedule as she has been on for the last couple of months.  (That has never happened!  Every time we go to the vet, the medicine changes and we have to create a spreadsheet just to keep track of it all.)  But we are on a schedule now and even have the schedule committed to memory!  It’s a really good routine.  We are very pleased.  We don’t have to go back to the vet until October!  And if that visit is good, then we won’t have to go back until April!  (Just in time to leave our tax refund with them for the year!)
